Iceberg Experiment and Penguin Snack

While reading 'Adventures of Riley - South Pole Penguins' the kids learned how only a small part of an iceberg is visible above water.  Here is a neat experiment to demonstrate this.  We made some 'icebergs' by squashing and squishing a paper cup and then filling it with water to freeze.

Here are the icebergs!

And here are the scientists!

Once frozen, we ripped the 'iceberg' out of the cup and plopped it into a glass bowl of water.  The kids were easily able to see that the biggest part of the iceberg is underwater.

Oreo Penguin Snack

I bought some Oreo cookies and was getting ready to make a snowman snack (that I will post about later), when Sarah said, 'Hey Mom, let's make these oreos into PENGUINS!'

What a great idea - why didn't I think of that!

Here is our little
Oreo Penguin

The eyes and beak are made from fruit snacks.

  1. Great job, keeps it going and I’ll keep coming back. I enjoyed reading and I have you bookmarked to check for new stuffs.

  2. First time I commented in a blog! I really enjoy it. You have an awesome post. Please do more articles like this. I'm gonna come back surely. God bless.

  3. I’m impressed, I need to say. Really hardly ever do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you have got hit the nail on the head. Your thought is outstanding; the difficulty is something that not enough persons are talking intelligently about. I'm very blissful that I stumbled across this in my search for one thing relating to this. casino online
